Mike Gurspan started his broadcast journalism career in Jacksonville, Florida as an intern weekend reporter for WCJB while still going to college in the late 1970’s.
He moved to Panama City and worked in news, sports, and weather for WJHG for seven years. After an unsuccessful run for elected office, Mike moved across town to WMBB in Panama City.
Mike worked his first stint at WTVY in 1992 as the Northwest Florida bureau reporter.
In 1997, Mike accepted a position as the Ft. Myers- Naples Bureau Chief with the newly created 24-hour cable Florida News Channel(FNC). The concept was ahead of its time and folded.
Mike ran his medical coding business, but missed the white sand beaches of Florida.
He served as the Public Information Officer for the Walton Co. Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Operations Center.
In 2010, Mike returned to WTVY. He is the Bureau Chief for Coffee and Geneva counties, but can be seen all over our region for weekend reporting and Friday Night Football.
