The Ozark-Dale County Public Library is proud to host another “Dialogues on the Experience of War” series featuring a three-part community discussion on the experiences of WWII. War, service, patriotism, and duty are themes that have permeated the great works of history, literature, and art that will form the basis of the Dialogues discussion programs. Each program will discuss a different book or film that depicts the experiences of WWII, both at home and abroad.
All events will take place in the West Wing of the Ozark-Dale County Public Library with facilitator MGen Ret. Lou Hennies at 6:30pm.
On January 18, 2018 the Western Front will be discussed using the book, Band of Brothers by Stephen E. Ambrose, which is the story of Easy Company who parachuted into France on D-Day.
On February 15, 2018 the Pacific Theatre will be discussed using the book, With the Old Breed by E.B. Sledge, which follows the harsh experiences of a young Marine in the Pacific theatre.
On March 15, 2018 the Homefront will be discussed using the film The Best Years of Our Lives produced by Samuel Goldwyn, which follows the stories of three WWII veterans as they return home to small-town America.
