LUNCH AND LEARN WITH CAROLYN CURRY The Friends of the Dothan Houston County Library System are hosting author Dr. Carolyn Curry at the Dothan Country Club on Wednesday, November 15, at 11:30 AM. Books will be available for purchase at the event. Curry is the author of Suffer and Grow Strong: The Life of Ella Gertrude Clanton Thomas 1834-1907. Dr. Curry composed her biography of Thomas by studying Thomas’ diaries that spanned 41 years. Curry weaves together the life story of a woman who ultimately became a leading voice in the suffrage and temperance movements while demonstrating strength and remarkable growth in the face of unimaginable adversity. Dr. Curry is the founder and chair of Women Alone Together®, a non-profit foundation created to meet the needs of women who are alone in our culture. The well being of women past and present has been her lifelong passion. For more than 50 years, she has been married to Bill Curry who is the former head football coach at Georgia Tech, the University of Alabama, the University of Kentucky, and Georgia State University.
