CW3 Richard W. Seymour, (U. S. Army, Retired), age 68, of Ozark, died Wednesday, December 18, 2013, in the Tuskegee Veterans Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Monday, December 23, 2013, from The First United Methodist Church in Ozark with Reverend Dr. Christian Eckert, Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither, and Reverend Dr. Jason Thrower officiating, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Full Military Honors will be rendered following the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P.M.
CW3 Seymour was born October 24, 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. Seymour entered the United States Army in 1964 where he was a helicopter pilot and medic. His distinguished military career included multiple tours in Vietnam, retiring from active duty in 1989. He continued as a civilian helicopter flight instructor at Fort Rucker until 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Maynard Seymour and Barbara Muggleton Seymour.
Survivors include his wife, Georgianna Strange Seymour of Ozark; three sisters, Barbara Seymour of Media, PA, Margaret Kay Murphy of Katy, TX, and Hopi Hodge of Fort Worth, TX; one brother, Bill Hanes of Pauls Valley, OK.
Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the First United Methodist Church of Ozark, Sound System Fund, 167 East Broad Street, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
