Billy Melvin Womack, 79, died Monday, November 18, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Howard Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Glenn and Reverend Tony Deese officiating. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services on Thursday. Serving as active pallbearers will be the grandsons and the honorary pallbearers will be Lydia & Warren Christian & Mary Ann and Charles Ray Miller.
Born in Houston County, Alabama, Bill was a son of the late Abner C. and Ethel Miller Womack. He retired from Great Southern Paper Mill following thirty-six years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors, NASCAR racing and Alabama football. Mr. Womack was of the Baptist Faith.
A special thank you to Hospice Advantage for all they did for Bill during his illness, especially to Kendra, Lisa, Jenny, and Vanessa, and also to two very special caregivers, Shelby Womack and Debra Jackson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ramona Womack; sisters-in-law, Judy Womack and Mary Goodson; brothers-in-law Randall Deal and Edward Deal; great grandson, Ethan Davis.
Surviving are his wife of thirty-two years, Sarah Deal Womack, Cottonwood, Alabama; a son, Melvin (Kayon) Womack, Tampa, Florida; a daughter Karen (Kenny) Amos, Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; step daughters, Debra Jackson, Cottonwood, Alabama, Gracie (Tommy) Davis, Midland City, Alabama; brothers, Harold & Eleanor Womack, Ashford, Alabama, Bernard & Elaine Womack, Ashford, Alabama, Myrias & Catherine Womack, Cottonwood, Alabama, Morris & Aletha Womack, Melbourne, Florida, Shelby Womack, Dothan, Alabama, Lynwood & Moniece Womack, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; seven brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
