Manuel Warlon (Dick) Dickerson, 80, formerly of Ashford, Alabama, died Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m. today at Ashford City Cemetery with Reverend Clifford Quincy officiating and Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:30 p.m. today at the funeral home prior to traveling to the cemetery for the service.
Born in Houston County, Alabama, he was a son of the late Manuel Christian and Wilma Mae Shaw Dickerson. Manuel was a graduate of Ashford High School and Jones College, where he received an Associates Degree in electronics. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was an Air Traffic Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration for twenty five years prior to his retirement and was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Kathy Swanson.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Dickerson, Orlando, Florida, Sandra Lee (Douglas) Smiley, Jacksonville, Florida and Mary Linda (Joselito) Bulanadi, Chino, California; a brother, Alver L. Dickerson, Ashford, Alabama; a grandson, Houston Bulanadi, Chino California; a nephew, Michael L. Dickerson, Enterprise, Alabama; and a niece, Barbara Campbell, Anniston, Alabama.
