Funeral Home: Holman Funeral Home of Ozark
Ms. Mary Jean Moffett Smolinski, age 62, of Ozark, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, September 28, 2013, from Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M.
Ms. Smolinski was born September 5, 1951 in Aberdeen, Mississippi to the late Cletis James Moffett and Ethel Ordean Robertson Moffett. The family moved to Ozark when she was a child when her dad got a job in Fort Rucker, AL. She graduated from Carroll High School in Ozark in 1969, received her Bachelors Degree in Education from Auburn University, and her Masters Degree in Special Education from Troy State University. Mary Jean was a teacher at Vivian B. Adams School, Emma P. Flowers Elementary School, and Lisenby Elementary School. She retired from the Ozark City School System after many years of dedication to her students. She continued to use her time after retirement volunteering in the Ozark community.
Mary Jean was married to Leonard Smolinski in 1976 and gave birth to their daughter Amanda in 1984. She was a very loving mother and gave selflessly to those around her. She was truly an example of Christ’s love, and her family joins her in the belief that she is now in the company of her Heavenly Father. Ms. Smolinski was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Neil Moffett.
Survivors include one daughter, Amanda Smolinski of Brentwood, Tennessee; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rodney and Rita Moffett of Ariton, Mitch and Regina Moffett of Golden, Mississippi; and Amanda’s father, Leonard Smolinski of Ozark.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Vivian B. Adams School, 2047 Stuart Tarter Road, Ozark, AL 36360.
