The first local NBC affiliated television station in the Wiregrass is now on the air. WRGX TV launched on Monday, June 1 with a full slate of NBC programming.
“Viewers in this area have never had their own NBC affiliate. NBC programming was brought in from outside markets in Panama City and Montgomery,” said Mike Smith, Vice President and General Manager for WRGX and WTVY. WRGX will operate out of the WTVY-TV studios. Both stations are owned by Gray Television, Inc.
Along with regular NBC programming the station will also carry syndicated programs Jeopardy, Family Feud as well as a live local newscast Monday through Friday at 5:30 p.m. “We are excited to be able to be the only station in the Wiregrass airing a 5:30 p.m. local newscast,” added WRGX News Director Kim Allen.
WRGX will be available over the air on Digital Channels 23.1 and 4.4. In the coming days WRGX will begin showing up on local cable systems and satellite systems.
