TROY, Ala. – The Troy University Symphony Band will present its annual Salute to Veterans Concert Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Claudia Crosby Theater on the Troy Campus. The event is free and open to the public.
The Troy University Concert Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Diane Orlofsky, will join the Symphony Band in a performance of Aaron Copland’s “Promise of Living.”
The concert will also include performances of “Suite of Old American Dances” by Robert Russell Bennet, the world premiere of “Hero” by Troy University graduate student Tyler Arcari, Henry Fillmore’s “The Circus Bee,” conducted by Charles Henderson High School Director of Bands Trent Burkett and the “Salute to Veterans,” a sing along of patriotic tunes.
Dr. John M. Long, Troy University Director of Bands Emeritus, will conduct the Symphony Band in John Philip Sousa’s traditional favorite, “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”
