At a packed Troy City Council meeting, residents watched as the council decided whether or not to ban smoking in the city.
The decision to make the city smoke-free was unanimous.
The vote makes it illegal to light up in any public place. This includes restaurants and bars.
Smokers outside have to be more than 20 feet away from a public place.
A public hearing was held before the council voted, only three people addressed the council, all in favor of the ban.
