DOTHAN, AL--Just because you're over 60 doesn't mean you can't have fun.
"There's not a lot of things that cater to senior adults so this is just a day that they can come out and have fun," said SARCOA's Community Event Organizer Jessica Franklin.
68-year-old Donald Lankford says he traveled from Level Plains Alabama to be apart of the event and it actually turned his day around.
"I didn't feel like getting up this morning but I knew I had this so I got up, I feel better and I'm so happy I came," said Lankford.
The day is filled with music and lots of activities for those, over 60, to enjoy.
"There's a lot of things that may remind them of their child hood, we play carnival games," added Franklin.
Carnival games, Lankford says were quite a breeze. "That was great they made it a little easy but that's okay."
61-year-old Shelly Baxter says the games mean more than just fun to her.
"It's just something to have us doing something and not just have to sit at home and not do anything."
Baxter says the entire day comes with an extra bonus.
"It's a nice event for the senior citizens to be able to fellowship with one another."
A fellowship they'll look forward to every year.
The fun doesn't stop today.
The entire month of May is observed as Older Americans month.
