Salvation Army Christmas Assistance Eager to Help

The Salvation Army is wrapping up its Christmas Aid Assistance Program.

News 4's Victoria Rosa was on the scene today telling us why Salvation Army officials say it's not over just yet.

Although Christmas aid sign-ups are over, officials say their work is far from that.

Today was the final day to sign up for the Salvation Army’s Christmas aid program.

Children and seniors are eligible to receive assistance.

When Victoria got out there, there were already a total of 2, 615 people signed up, which is a little over 2,300 of those being children.

Even though registration ended today, Salvation Army volunteers say they still need the communities help make a difference.

Volunteer Jim Mooney said, "We need volunteers because we are going to need to have toy sorting, there is hoping to be food sorting and we'll also need help during the time of distribution.”

Salvation Army volunteers will distribute the Christmas gifts during the Peanut Festival.
