DOTHAN--Instead of letting your kids sit around the house all summer, why not put them somewhere they'd rather be?
Dothan Leisure Services is offering several summer camps and programs for kids around town.

"It gives something fun for the children to do, it keeps them out of trouble, it helps with socialization where they meet with other children," said Andrew Bell Center Manager Tonnie Cooper.

Camp Choctaw has four sessions at $80 each.
Registration is May 8 and 9th, from 4 p.m. to 6 pm.
The camp is a the Doug Tew Center and it's for boys and girls ages 6 to 12.

"They go swimming every day, they do arts and crafts , go on field trips to water world, the fun zone, games outside and inside and special events, it's a lot of fun for the kids," added Cooper.

Transportation will be provided.
There's also the Youth Adventure Camp and the Playground Program.

"We have three playground programs, added Cooper, one at the Andrew Bell Center, one at Walton Park and one at the Wiregrass Recreation Center."

Registration for those are June 2nd, from 9 a.m. until noon.
It's $10 for the first child and $5 for a second.
A $20 family deal is available for three or more kids.

The Boys and Girls Club of the Wiregrass is also registering for it's summer program.

"We have a junior games room, we have a gym, a playground outside, arts and crafts, baseball kickball, we also have computers, field trips," said Director Phillip Gilley.

Registration has already begun and it's for ages Kindergarten through 18.
There are two sessions and it's $55 per week.

"We're also going to be doing some educational type stuff, we do peer pressure, self esteem, bullying and things like that."

Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided.

Registration has also begun for Landmark Park's summer day camps.
There are several to choose from for children ages 4 to 11.
