The streets of Dothan came to life Friday afternoon for the city's first Mardi Gras parade. It featured decorated cars, floats, and little princesses for everyone's entertainment. The parade was organized by a group called The Krewe of Kolosse. "We wanted to start it to have an impact in the local Houston County community
where there wasn't really a Mardi Gras presence," William Griggs, Organizer, said.
Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday." It's the practice of splurging a little on food before the ritual fasting event, Lent. The group says they do not want this first parade to be the last.
