The calendar may say January, but that isn’t stopping local non-profits from preparing for the third annual Houston County Gives Day.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 at Eagle Eye Outfitters in Dothan. Currently, 21 non-profits have signed up to showcase their organization to shoppers and raise money. However, officials say that in the end, it is the community that wins.
“We are not competing or anything like that were all here to help each other,” said David Duke, Executive Director of United Way 211. “When it comes to meeting the needs of those less fortunate in our communities I think we are very fortunate to have organizations like this that do come together, we sort of put down our personal interest of whatever and start looking at what is best for the community and that has been really great.”
Donations can be made during a 24-hour window online at Houstoncountygives.com in addition to Eagle Eye Outfitters on April 5. A complete list of non-profits participating is also available on that website.
