(Dothan, AL)--Lawmakers will be reviewing plans for new house and senate district lines in Houston County this week.
Houston County Commissioner Mark Culver said the new legislative lines are to ensure each house and senate district receive adequate representation.
"We can't do anything in the state of Alabama without going to the legislature, so it's very important to us to have good relationships," Culver said. “Fortunately, I think even with these new lines, we can still accomplish our goals," he said.
Under the new plan, the county’s 4 house districts will remain the same. However, the county will lose Senator Holley's district, and will gain Senator Billy Beasley under a new district that will stretch from downtown Dothan up to Tuskegee.
