(Dothan,AL)—The Downtown Redevelopment Authority is making final preparations for the Wadlington Hotel demolition. The building is expected to undergo construction early Sunday morning.
“Safety is a number one priority when it comes to this project,” The Downtown Redevelopment Authority Director Jansen Tidmore said.
“We will be closing down Foster Street and limiting accessibility, until the project is complete” he said.
While many people are disappointed to see the building go, Jansen says the demolition is for the benefit of everyone.
“A project like this one is always hard to do, but it is a public hazard,” Jansen said. “We hope to build three or four new businesses in the same spot, after the Wadlington Hotel is torn down,” he said.
The excavation should be complete by Sunday, however, it will probably take up to a week to clean all of the debris.
