Melinda McClendon says she's the right choice at the right time.
"I was born in this district and I'm going to die in this district and I have a vested interest in making this the best place to grow up in and making this the best place to come back to after you've gone off and gotten your technical degree or training or your college degree," said Melinda McClendon.
McClendon says one of her top priorities if elected is jobs.
"There's some key things that I'm interested in and it really revolves around jobs, I know too many people who are unemployed."
And something dear to her heart.
"I'm taking care of my elderly father and there's a void in elder care here so I'm looking to make a difference in that arena also," explained McClendon.
McClendon has one message for voters.
"My heart is in the right place, and if I can't be apart of the solution I have no right to be apart of the problem."
The special election is Tuesday May 22nd.
Three other candidates are in the running for Houston County's District 4 seat.
