Community Watch Member Report leads to Arrest

On July 2, 2012 the Dothan Police Department responded to the area of Main Street and Pontiac Avenue after receiving a report of a possible burglary from an active member of the community watch program.

Upon arrival, the suspect was gone however officers continued to search the area and located the man in the 1400 block of West Main Street.

The man was detained and upon further investigation police discovered he was in possession of burglar’s tools.

Simultaneously, officers on the scene of the residence in question confirmed the residence had been burglarized.

The suspect, Curtis Lee Melton Junior was arrested bringing this case, made by community watch, to a close.

• Curtis Lee Melton Junior, black male, 30 years of age, of Enterprise, Alabama was arrested and charged with Possession of Burglar’s Tools and Second Degree Burglary with bonds totaling $400,000.
