Sticky, chewy, sweets on Halloween can be a problem for children with braces, but Dr. Charles Crowder in Dothan has a way to make those problem candies a treat for troops serving overseas.
Between Nov. 4 and Nov. 7, children can earn a dollar for every pound of candy they bring into Crowder Orthodontics. There is a limit, through, of five pounds.
The practice has teamed up with Operation Gratitude who will ship the candy to troops overseas.
Dr. Crowder says this idea actually serves two purposes.
“I don’t mind kids having candy, it is find, it really is but there a moderation there and with it being Orthodontic Health Month of October it is kind of a promotional thing as well as something else that is really cool that we are getting involved with Operation Gratitude,” said Crowder.
Last year, Dr. Crowder donated 150-pounds of candy through the Halloween Candy Buy Back program. This year, he hopes to collect 250-pounds.
