Area River Levels & Flood Stages Mon Mar 4 Morning & Last Update

****************************UPDATE********************************

(The Tallahassee National Weather Service has additional remarks following the river level section.)

Latest information as of 1am cst Monday Mar 4 -

RIVER FLOOD WARNINGS continue in several areas.

ALL RIVERS in the WTVY-TV viewing area have reached their high water mark and are falling (though several rivers are slowly falling and / or will still be in flood stage for several days - see chart).

The Choctawhatchee River at Caryville is expected to fall below flood stage sometime Wednesday March 6.

The Choctawhatchee River at Bruce is slowly falling and will fall BELOW MAJOR flood stage later Monday morning BUT will still be ABOVE flood stage for several days.

The Chipola River at Altha is slowly falling but will still be in MODERATE flood stage into Tuesday Mar 5 and still ABOVE flood stage for several days after.

The Flint River at Bainbridge has just fallen BELOW flood stage and continues to slowly fall.

The Apalachicola River at Blountstown is slowly falling and will remain above flood stage for several days.

There remain NO FLOODING PROBLEMS AT THE DAMS on the Chattahochee River (further downstream there are flooding problems on the Apalachicola River). ______________________________________________________

REMEMBER - please stay informed if you live or are near any rivers or creeks.

When FLOODING is a threat -

Protect yourself and your loved ones first - belongings and property second. Have a plan of action should water rise close to you.

Keep an eye on your children and pets and prevent them from approaching any stream - the water is fast, powerful and easily could sweep them away.

Please PAY UTMOST ATTENTION to specific flood warnings for your area, and if you are affected, please don't wait until the last minute to leave.

Please note the following when looking at river / creek levels and forecasts-

1) River levels may fluctuate in the short term. When a river is rising, PAY CLOSE ATTENTION to the river forecasts...

2) River level forecasts are constantly changing because recent rain is added to the computer forecast model AND short term future forecast rains are included - BUT they are just that - FORECASTS, NOT ACTUAL RAINFALL...therefore, the river forecasts are updated every few hours to reflect ongoing changes...

3) Just because a river has crested does NOT mean it will start dropping immediately - the river may remain steady at times or fall very slowly.

This is the LAST UPDATE for this recent heavy rain and flooding event.
I hope it has been helpful and informative....Oscar Fann.
