Cowboys from all over are in Bonifay, this weekend, for the 69th Annual Northwest Florida Championship Rodeo. It is nationally known for its grand entry and Friday night it delivered: 197 horses kicked off the show.
The event includes bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, and much more. Marianna resident, Mareta Spencer, said it is the excitement of the rodeo that reels her in.
“When you're putting an animal in the mix with its own brain, and you put a trained rider on them, you never know what's going to happen. There’s always that element of surprise that could happen,” she said.
The rodeo is a non-profit event and uses its proceeds for different scholarships. The event will last until Saturday night.
