CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - A Christian student is suing his
public school in New York.
The high schooler, who's identified in court papers as "A.Q.," says Lindenhurst School District officials have denied recognition to a Bible club because of its religious nature.
The lawsuit was filed by the Alliance Defense Fund.
ADF Senior Legal Counsel David Cortman says four or five students were involved in Lindenhurst's Bible club. He expects court arguments seeking a preliminary injunction to begin this month.
The school says it's willing to provide space, but the club has yet to file the proper application.
