TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Oral Roberts University has a new president
more than a year after the son of its namesake founder stepped down
amid a spending scandal.
Dr. Mark Rutland was chosen for the Christian school's top post
Wednesday. He has been president of Southeastern University in Florida for the past 10 years.
Former ORU president Richard Roberts resigned in late 2007 amid
allegations that he and his wife spent school money on lavish vacations and home remodeling at a time when the school was facing
more than $50 million in debt. He has denied any wrongdoing.
Ralph Fagin will continue serving as interim president until Rutland takes over on July 1st.
