Muslim Woman, Rabbis to Pray at Inaugural Service

WASHINGTON (AP) - The cast of clerics praying at next week's
inaugural ceremonies is growing.

Officials familiar with planning for Wednesday's prayer service at Washington National Cathedral say prayers will be offered by Ingrid Mattson - the first woman president of the Islamic Society of North America - and by rabbis representing the three major branches of American Judaism. If tradition holds, Washington's Roman Catholic Archbishop Donald Wuerl also will pray. The sermon will be preached by the Rev. Sharon Watkins, who heads the Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

The Rev. Tony Evans, president of the Urban Alternative, is to pray at an inaugural prayer breakfast.

Prayers at the inauguration are to be delivered by the Rev. Rick Warren and the Rev. Joseph Lowery.

The openly gay Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson is to pray at Sunday's pre-inaugural concert.
