SEAFORD, Del. (AP) - Pastors in Sussex County, Delaware, plan to
hold a community prayer service next month in support of the
hundreds of workers expected to be laid off from the Invista nylon
plant in Seaford.
About 400 workers are likely to lose their jobs in coming months
as Invista trims operations to keep just 100 workers. The plant was
opened by DuPont in 1939. Current owner Invista announced the job
cuts in October.
The Rev. Dale Brown of Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville says the support effort has brought together different congregations and races. Some partners are working on fundraising initiatives.
