MACON, Ga. (AP) - President-elect Barack Obama's former pastor,
the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, is scheduled to preach at a revival this
week in Macon, Georgia.
Wright is to preach Monday through Wednesday at St. Paul African
Methodist Episcopal Church, where he also spoke last year.
The Chicago minister drew headlines during the presidential campaign for fiery sermons he delivered at Trinity United Church of Christ.
Obama resigned from the church when excerpts from some of those
sermons aroused controversy.
St. Paul's pastor, the Rev. Ronald Slaughter, defends Wright. He says the Chicago pastor's 35 years of community service far outweigh a few minutes from past sermons.
