In an interview with ABC's "Nightline" on Monday, the president said he probably is not a literalist when reading the Bible although a person can learn a lot from it, including that God sent his only son.
The president also said that he prays to the same God as those with different religious beliefs.
Bush said he's often asked if he thinks he was chosen by God to be president. He told ABC's Cynthia McFadden he "can't go there" or presume to think that God selected him.
Bush also said that the decision to go to war in Iraq was not connected to his religious beliefs.
