Crowd Rallies Against Anti-religion Sign at State Capitol

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Hundreds of people have rallied at Washington's state Capitol to protest a holiday display that disparages religion and says there is no God.

A "winter solstice" sign sponsored by the atheistic Freedom from Religion Foundation is displayed along with a Christmas tree and a Nativity scene. The sign calls religion "myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds."

The organizer of Sunday's rally, Steve Wilson, calls that offensive to people of all faiths.

The co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, Annie
Laurie Gaylor, responds that she finds the Christian message offensive, and adds that she's willing to take down the sign if religious displays are removed as well.
