3 Shot in NJ Church

CLIFTON, N.J. (AP) - Authorities are hunting for a gunman who entered a church (St. Thomas Syrian Orthodox Knanaya Church) in Clifton, N.J., yesterday and shot three people killing his estranged wife.

Police told The Star-Ledger of Newark that the victim had recently moved from California to escape an abusive marriage and had filed a restraining order against her husband.

About 200 people were attending services in the sanctuary of the church, whose members are mostly first-generation Indian immigrants
and their children.
