Suspect Arrested in Church Offering Theft

LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - Police in Lakeland, Florida, have arrested a man who stole $100 in church offerings from a woman who also happens to be the sheriff's stepmother.

Shirley Judd, the treasurer of the Crystal Lake Baptist Church,said a man showed up at Sunday services and then followed her to the church office after she collected $100 in donations from the congregation.

The man snatched the cash from her hands and fled.

Judd, who is the stepmother of Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd,
immediately called deputies.

Twenty-eight-year-old Harold Williams was charged with robbery
and disrupting a religious ceremony and was booked into the Polk
County Jail.
