VATICAN CITY (AP) - Pope Benedict is praying for the victims of traffic accidents and urging drivers, passengers and pedestrians to
stay "sober and alert" on the road.
Benedict told the faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square that the third Sunday of November is dedicated to those who died in road accidents and to their grieving families.
The pope said everyone on the road should show "responsibility, consideration and respect for others."
He prayed to the Virgin Mary to "lead us safely along streets and highways throughout the world."
