NAPLES, Fla. (AP) - As Habitat for Humanity reaches another
milestone, it's calling on Christians to assist in the mission of
providing homes for those in need in the U.S. and around the world.
Habitat vice-president Larry Gluth (glooth) says the group is marking construction of it's 300-thousandth home today, the latest in Naples, Florida. That's followed the next day with a Habitat home in Guatemala.
Gluth says it's "front and center" in Habitat for Humanity's mission statement to live out the "love and teachings of Jesus Christ."
He says the organization challenges everyone it works with to put their faith into action with "good work" and demonstrate their faith to the world.
Gluth says with 1.6 billion people living in substandard housing, there's a lot of work to do.
