The goal this year is to have 2,600 “holly jolly” bags decorated and donated to the food bank by December 11th.

Workers say the decorated bags might be the only cards that some senior citizens get this holiday season. Bags are available at the food bank in bundles of 25 and 50 for church groups or classrooms to decorate.

Or if you really want to help, you can fill the bags with food as well.

Shirley Henderson of the Wiregrass Area Food Bank says, “Christmas is on its way, and if by December 11th, if we can get these bags and color them and bring them back to us. We'll fill them with some joy, and if you want to fill them that's fine. That means there's extra stuff we can give out.”

For a list of desired items or to pick up your bags, you can contact the food bank at 794-9775.
