Christian Right Intensifies Attacks on Obama

UNDATED (AP) - Terrorist strikes on American cities. Gay marriage in every state. Obstetricians required to perform abortions. Restrictions on Christian radio and home schooling.

Focus on the Family Action says all are plausible scenarios if Democrat Barack Obama is elected president. The warning on its Web site is called "Letter from 2012 in Obama's America."

Rev. Jim Wallis of Sojourners calls the 2012 letter "the last gasp of a dying movement: the religious right." He says young evangelicals are less concerned about gay marriage than they are about poverty and the environment. Wallis adds that Republicans, despite their rhetoric, have failed to end abortion.

But Steve Strang, publisher of Charisma magazine, warns in an e-mail to readers that in an Obama administration, "people who hate Christianity will be emboldened to attack our freedoms."
