Michael W. Smith Releases New Worship Album

CHICAGO (AP) - Christian music veteran Michael W. Smith says he
had planned to make another pop album, but God gave him worship
songs instead. The result -- "A New Hallelujah" -- goes on sale
today.

Smith is joined by Israel Houghton (HOH'-tun) and the African Children's Choir in a concert recorded before an audience of 12,000 people at Houston's Lakewood Church.

Smith is currently touring with Steven Curtis Chapman -- shows
that Smith believes are helping Chapman recover from the accidental
death of his 5-year-old daughter, Maria Chapman, in May.

Michael W. Smith's own family continues to grow, with the birth
this month of his second grandchild. Three-week-old Whitaker and
19-month-old Audrey are the children of Ryan Smith and his wife,
Patty.
