HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - A Texas man who denied killing a 22-month-old boy and the child's parents has thanked God before being put to death by lethal injection.
From the death gurney, Alvin Kelly told relatives of the slain family, "I pray this gives you some peace." But he added, "As I stand before God today, the true judge, I had nothing to do with the death of your family." Kelly said he would ask God to not hold that against them.
At the same time, he acknowledged killing another man for whom he was serving time.
As the drugs were administered, the 57-year-old Kelly started singing a hymn praising God for coming into his life, and then slipped into unconsciousness.
