The Houston County Substance Abuse Partnership is encouraging area families to participate in Family Day. It's a nationwide initiative to remind parents that what kids really want at the dinner table is you.
Advocates say family meals are the perfect time to talk to your kids and listen to what's on their mind. Statistics show that the more often kids eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use drugs.
Dothan restaurants are offering special prices and discounts for families on September 22nd. Beth Ford, Houston County Substance Abuse Partnership Director says the drug problem will be solved in lving rooms and dining rooms and across kitchen tables by parents and families....not judges and politicians.
The following are participating restaurants:
LaBamba's, TGI Friday's, Shoney's, Pig Out, Longhorn, Quiznos, Mia's, Olive Garden.
