WASHINGTON (AP) -- The honorary chairman of this year's National Day of Prayer, California pastor Greg Laurie, says observances are scheduled all over the country today.
After a prayer breakfast at the Pentagon, Laurie is being joined by James and Shirley Dobson, Vonette Bright, Pat Boone and other Christian leaders at a national observance on Capitol Hill.
He says prayers will be lifted for America's protection and for Americans to turn back to the God of the Bible after shocks like the school shootings in Newtown, Conn., and the Boston Marathon bombings.
Laurie says the same God who saved Nineveh after the preaching of Jonah can save America today.
