Obama Worships At Historic AME Church In DC

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama completed his first term in office by attending the Sunday morning service at Washington's historic Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Obama and first lady Michelle Obama arrived with their daughters Malia and Sasha and other family members hours before the president's noontime official inauguration at the White House.

Church-goers rose to their feet and those in the balcony leaned over to catch a glimpse as the Obamas entered from a back room as the gospel choir continued to sing. The Obamas sat in the second row, and Secret Service agents sat in the third row.

Pastor Ronald Braxton's sermon on the eve of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday was about the exodus from Egypt when God's people had no choice but to cross the Red Sea. He said the lesson was to move forward in faith, because, "With God, all things are possible."
