Missions Conference Ending With New Year's Celebration

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The 16,000 young people at one of tonight's biggest New Year's Eve parties are unlikely to wake up with a hangover tomorrow, unless it's a spiritual one.

They're attending the Urbana Student Missions Conference in St. Louis, which kicked off Thursday and wraps up tonight after they ring in the new year with a worship celebration.

The conference is sponsored every third year by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship to expose each generation to missionary opportunities at home and abroad.

On Saturday, the students assembled 32,000 caregiver kits for AIDS workers in Africa.

Last night, Sarah Breuel, a Brazilian missionary to Europe, challenged attendees to invest their talents in God's mission.
