LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Rev. Robert Schuller has lost a court bid to obtain more than $5 million from the ministry he founded, a now-bankrupt religious empire that included worldwide "Hour of Power" broadcasts and California's landmark Crystal Cathedral.

A U.S. bankruptcy judge on Monday rejected most of the breach-of-contract and copyright infringement claims that Schuller and his family had made against Crystal Cathedral Ministries.

Schuller was awarded only $615,625 for housing allowances, health insurance premiums and unpaid compensation from the ministry.

His daughter, Carol Schuller Milner, says her parents are in their 80s and gave much of their wealth to support the ministry and may now have to sell their home.

The Diocese of Orange bought the cathedral in bankruptcy court last year for nearly $58 million and has renamed it Christ Cathedral.
