WATERVLIET, N.Y. (AP) -- A New York judge has rejected a lawsuit aimed at stopping the demolition of an Albany-area church to make way for a supermarket.
The Albany Times-Union says Supreme Court Justice Kimberly O'Connor ruled that a grassroots group called the Citizens for St. Patrick's has no standing to bring the case. The group wants to stop the $1 million sale of a historic former church in Watervliet.
O'Connor said she followed the state's Religious Corporation Law and the Not for Profit Corporation Law when she approved the sale by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany.
