WASHINGTON (AP) -- Candidates don't often burst into song -- especially a gospel spiritual -- on the campaign trail.
But Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain accepted an
invitation to sing today at the end of his appearance at the National Press Club in Washington. He explained that it was an opportunity for him to share his faith.
In a rich baritone, Cain sang, "I'll never know why Jesus came to love me so. He looked beyond all my faults and saw my needs."
Cain is a longtime member and an associate minister at Antioch
Baptist Church North in Atlanta, which was founded by freed slaves and now claims 14,000 members.
