SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) -- The Episcopal Diocese of Western Louisiana has ordained its fourth bishop, a man who served in Missouri, Alabama and Florida after attending universities in Atlanta and Tennessee.
The Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church, elevated the Very Rev. Jacob W. Owensby, who had been installed in January 2009 as second dean of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral in Shreveport.
The 54-year-old bishop takes over from the Right Reverend D. Bruce MacPherson, who is retiring.
