WASHINGTON (AP) -- Leaders of the National Clergy Council and the Christian Defense Coalition have unfurled a two-story-tall banner on their Capitol Hill headquarters that says: "We don't always agree with the President, but we always pray for him."
The banner on a building across from the Supreme Court adds a Bible citation -- 1 Tim 2:1-6 -- in which the apostle Paul instructs Christians to pray for their leaders because "this is good, and pleases God our Savior."
The ministry leaders hope their banner will be seen by many of the people attending today's inauguration ceremony.
Meanwhile, evangelicals like the Rev. Pat Robertson, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and singer Pat Boone are taking part in today's unofficial inaugural prayer breakfast in Washington.
On Tuesday, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will attend the official inaugural prayer service at Washington National Cathedral, which will feature elements of Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism.
