OAK CREEK, Wis. (AP) -- Christians are offering help and comfort to their Sikh neighbors after the shootings that left six worshippers and the gunman dead at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wis.

The Rev. Jim Jodrey, associate pastor of Harvest Community Church, admits his congregation knew very little about the Sikhs or the religion they practiced less than a mile down the road before Sunday's rampage.

But Jodrey says church members are now meeting their Sikh neighbors and offering them material assistance as well as prayer.

He says Christians know that "we live in a very fallen world," but believe that God has a plan.

The gunman's motive wasn't immediately known, but Jodrey recognizes that his church could easily have been attacked instead.
