The City of Progress took part in one of their biggest days of giving today offering food and faith to visitors.
Pleasant Shade Missionary Baptist Church in Enterprise gave out boxes of groceries to the community earlier this morning. Church members say this is Coffee County's first mass food distribution. According to stats by world hunger one in five children and one in six adults go hungry every day.
"Many people are still laid off, many people are still without a job. Some are unemployed, some are underemployed and some are hurting and some don't have any jobs and some have fell to through the safety nets and have been kicked to the curb. We are just trying to reach those who are underserved," said associate minister Mark E. Rowe.
Pleasant Shade Missionary Baptist Church says that they plan to hold another mass food distribution in the future. They encourage other organizations to get involved as well.
