The Ecumenical Council of the Wiregrass will hold its first annual Partners Meeting at 6:30 pm, Tuesday, August 24, at Evergreen Presbyterian Church, 1103 N. Pontiac Avenue.
The Ecumenical Council is an interfaith group formed to address the root causes of poverty in our community.
Specifically, the Council aims to: facilitate networking and cooperation among existing direct aid providers; identify systemic issues (such as, lack of education, transportation or child care) that work against those trying to become self-sufficient; mobilizing the faith-based community to provide mentoring and other non-financial assistance to selected families; and engaging those who receive such help as mentors for other families in the future.
Participation in the Ecumenical Council is open to all worship communities and faith-based agencies in Houston County.
