St. Mary's Episcopal Mardi Gras 5K Run/Walk for Rice and Beans

Event Dates and Times

2/10/2018
St. Mary's Episcopal Church, located in Andalusia, AL
St. Mary's Episcopal Church, located in Andalusia, AL, will host our 5th annual Mardi Gras 5K Run/Walk for Rice and Beans on Saturday, February 10th, starting at 9 am. This 5K is the principal fundraiser for our Rice and Beans outreach food ministry.

The third Saturday of every month, from 9:00 - 11:00 am, St. Mary's donates three pounds of rice, two pounds of dried beans, a loaf of bread, and a grocery bag of non-perishable items to members of our community. These items are available to anyone in our community who needs/wants them and there are no prerequisites for receiving them. We also serve our guests who participate in receiving these items a hot, home-made breakfast. We serve approximately 180 guests each month.

The 5K begins at 9:00, the Fun Run (1 mile) begins at 10:00, and we serve a homemade meal of red beans and rice with bread pudding for dessert beginning at 10:30. With the $25 5K registration fee, a ticket for lunch and a t-shirt with our "Running St. Mary" is included. Additional lunch tickets can be purchased for $5. We encourage 5K participants to dress in their Mardi Gras running/walking finery and strive to make it a fun experience for everyone!
